Toptree Wood
Part of Top Wood, the planting of Toptree Wood began on 30 October 1998 and was completed on February 14 2007. The woodland is a mixture of oak, ash, birch, field maple, rowan, cherry, dogwood and hawthorn. Fast growing larch, planted to provide shelter for the other species, will be thinned out as the broadleaved trees become established. Toptree Wood has been created in the heart of the country as part of the National Forest scheme. Managed by the Woodland Trust, the wood will mature to become a focal point in the surrounding countryside, a distinct and visible monument to the efforts of this generation in the years to come.
