Foxley Wood
Foxley Wood is within the National Forest. Lying between the communities of Castle Gresley, Linton and Linton Heath, the wood’s design has been based on the site’s natural geography. Views over the Trent Valley will be retained through open rides and glades. Trees and shrubs have been carefully selected. Trees include mainly oak, ash, birch and wild cherry. Smaller shrubs, hazel and guelder rose will form pockets on the woodland ride edges. Twenty percent of the woodland area will stay as open grassland. A local school was invited to contribute ideas about development of the site which resulted in the restoration of a shallow pond.
